The PC release of Final Fantasy 16 is in the final stages of optimization
A Final Fantasy 16 producer confirmed that the PC version of the game is in its final stages of optimization and a showcase will be released for it.
Square Enix's Creative Business Unit 3 team is gearing up to release the second paid expansion pack for Final Fantasy 16, titled The Rising Tide, aiming to bring it to PlayStation 5 players this spring. Additionally, alongside creating downloadable content (DLC), this studio is also working on releasing Final Fantasy 16 for PC. While there's no specific release date for this version yet, the game's producer has shed some light on it.
In a recent interview, Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the PC release of Final Fantasy 16 is in its final stages of optimization: "We are in the final stages of optimization now. The release date for the PC version depends on when we understand the hardware specifications required for the gaming experience; therefore, our efforts are currently dedicated to understanding the required system specifications. It's natural for the system requirements for experiencing Final Fantasy 16 to be somewhat high. We need more time to announce when we can reveal this release or determine the release date."
Square Enix is attempting to announce the necessary system specifications for the gaming experience earlier. Additionally, the development team plans to release a trial version to assist PC players further. Yoshida added: "To do that, we are looking forward to releasing a showcase for the PC version. I cannot speak about the details or the timing of the demo release at the moment, and I must postpone it for a better opportunity and suitable situation. What we are sure of is that the release time is not far away. It will not continue until the next year or two, and it might be closer; so stay with us until then."
The PC version of Final Fantasy 16 officially entered the development cycle in September 2023. This release includes additional game packs; therefore, it makes sense to release it after The Rising Tide. Square Enix has not mentioned anything regarding a sequel or a spin-off of Final Fantasy 16 yet and has not completely ruled out the possibility of releasing new additional content for it. However, the game's producer requested fans not to expect new content.
