In the past, Microsoft considered launching the game Halo on the PlayStation platform

Peter Moore, the former head of Xbox, says that Microsoft considered bringing Halo games to PlayStation in the past.
The Halo series, which began in the early 21st century, has been a significant part of the Xbox identity. While the series has garnered a dedicated fanbase over the years, it remains crucial to Xbox consoles. There have been numerous rumors circulating about Xbox-exclusive games making their way to PlayStation.
Games like Starfield, Indiana Jones, Great Circle, and even series like Gears of War and Halo have been among the notable works rumored to eventually find their way to PlayStation. However, these rumors were later debunked. Nonetheless, it appears that Microsoft had been considering bringing the Halo series to PlayStation for years. Former Xbox head Peter Moore recently conducted an interview with IGN, where he confirmed that Microsoft had contemplated bringing the Halo series to PlayStation for years.

He said, "I remember talking about Halo on PlayStation." He further mentioned that such matters are always discussed within the video game industry. Even though the idea of releasing Halo for PlayStation may seem far-fetched, Xbox continued to explore all growth possibilities. Microsoft was contemplating bringing Halo to PlayStation at a time when Xbox 360 sales surpassed those of PlayStation 3, and the series was also at its peak with Halo 3.
Moore adds that if a publisher can triple or quadruple its revenue through other platforms, it is not overly concerned about brand identity and is willing to sacrifice it for profit. For example, if Halo, limited to Xbox, generates $250 million, and releasing it on PlayStation could potentially raise franchise revenue to $1 billion, then Microsoft is seriously considering this possibility.
In the same interview, Peter Moore briefly discussed his thoughts and expectations for the future. According to him, Microsoft can build its future on the cloud ecosystem, and it is likely to take its initial steps in this direction in 2024. Peter Moore worked at Microsoft from 2003 to 2007 before joining Electronic Arts.
